The IDEB fair was a unique showcase of military technology

On Friday 18th May 2019 the Bratislava exhibition grounds closed its gates after the 7th edition of the international defence exhibition IDEB. The main focus of this edition was on modernization of defence technology in the defence sector, thus creating an ideal platform for a very comprehensive showcase of Air Force and Ground Force technologies. The total area of 25,000 square metres introduced 170 exhibitors from 18 countries. The event was traditionally accompanied by dynamic demonstrations of the Armed Forces of SR and international security-oriented conferences. The event was visited by 23,417 exhibitors and its importance was highlighted by participation of the highest constitutional officials of the Slovak Republic including the Prime Minister of Slovakia Mr. Peter Pellegrini and the Defence Minister of SR Mr. Peter Gajdoš; its credibility amongst Central Europe was also proved by intense participation of foreign delegations.
The IDEB exhibition took place under the patronage of the Ministry of Defence of SR; its opening ceremony took place on Wednesday 16th of May in the presence of the Defence Minister of Slovakia Mr. Peter Gajdoš and other important guests. During three days of its course, the exhibition created a space for presentation of products and services of defence industry. The many exhibits included armoured personnel carriers, fighter aircrafts, self-propelled howitzers, airship SILWA – SILENT WATCHER providing a comprehensive “smart” solution for silent-air monitoring, wide offer of weapons, the most modern means of communication or equipment and armaments for the Armed Forces and rescue services. The exhibits included an aircraft Saab JAS 39 Gripen real-size model with the option to try the pilot position as well as Black Hawk UH-60 helicopter owned by the Armed Forces of SR. The company Lockheed Martin that drew attention to the F-16 Block 70/72 V fighter through their participation was the partner of the fair.
Presentation of novelties was completed with thematic accompanying programme. Each day dynamic demonstrations of the Armed Forces of SR took place – enemy unit deployment, own units deployment under the artillery fire, conquest, evacuation of the sick and wounded, occupation of the building, arrests or demining; visitors could also see military music performance or show programme of the Guard of Honour of the Armed Forces of SR. Two international conferences took place within the accompanying programme – one scientific, dedicated to military and special technologies ICMT – 2018 and one cybernetic, aimed at cyber security and development of new capabilities within the armed forces and security units Cyber Security – Challenges. The live show of the hacker Tobias Schrödel on safety threats was a part of the conference.
The best exhibits registered for the competition were evaluated by professional jury and awarded with the Prix IDEB 2018 and Grand Prix IDEB 2018. All results can be found at www.incheba.sk.
